Church hosts Christmas boutique

A local church will be transformed into a winter wonderland this Saturday, as the third annual Christmas Boutique gets ready to bring in the holidays.

Featuring unique vendors selling handmade holiday decorations, wreaths, soaps, jewelry, candles and more, the third annual Christmas Boutique has gifts available for everyone.

Aside from the many vendors and gifts, the Spiritual Church of Turlock’s Christmas Boutique is bringing Santa to town, with free pictures alongside Saint Nick being available from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Santa is a main attraction,” said Pamela Clifton of the Spiritual Church of Turlock. “We take pictures of the kids and adults with Santa, then print and give them to visitors for free.”

During the event, visitors can participate in a raffle for the chance to win prizes.

“This is a cozy, intimate event with a steady stream of visitors throughout the day,” said Clifton. “Our fundraisers such as this help us pay our mortgage and keep our lights on.”

The Spiritual Church of Turlock respects all beliefs and philosophies, welcoming everyone from the community to join them as they celebrate the holiday season.

The third annual Christmas Boutique is free and open to the public, being held from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday. The event will take place at the Spiritual Church of Turlock, located at 533 Crane Ave.

Remembering a ‘fierce defender of freedom’
Memorial Day 1
During a Memorial Day ceremony held on Monday at Turlock Memorial Park, Marsha Gonsalves, with the support of her husband Larry, shares memories of their son, Sgt. 1st Class Chad Gonsalves, who died on Feb. 13, 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee north of Deh Rawod in central Afghanistan (KRISTINA HACKER/The Journal).
Every Memorial Day, locals put on their red, white and blue attire, maybe don a red poppy in remembrance of the fallen, and make their way to Turlock Memorial Park cemetery.
