The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training awarded Turlock Police Chief Robert Jackson with an Executive Certificate, honoring his achievements in law enforcement both academically and on the streets.

Chief Jackson was presented with the award at the Aug. 12 Turlock City Council meeting by POST Executive Director Robert Stresak.

The Executive Certificate is awarded to currently employed full-time peace officers of a POST-participating agency who possess an Advanced Certificate, have earned a minimum of sixty semester units at an accredited college, served for a period of two years as the department head and who have completed the Executive Development Course.

Chief Jackson has earned a masters degree in emergency resource administration from California State University, Long Beach and an Executive Leadership certificate from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.

The Executive Certificate is the highest ranking award an officer can receive and POST has only handed out 1,461 in their 50 year history.
