Local Girl Scout Daisies from Troop 399 donated 300 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to staff at the Army National Guard station in Turlock. Guardsmen from the 149th Chemical Company in Turlock will be forwarding the cookies to sister Chemical Companies 140th and 132nd, which are currently deployed to Afghanistan.

A recurring theme at the opening night of the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock — the 107th edition of the annual event — was the heat. Sure, it's not 108 degrees like last year, but 102 on Friday afternoon wasn't too far off.
