The approaching holiday season is a time of merriment for many, but for some it is also a sad reminder of loved ones who have passed. CovenantCare Hospice hopes to ease that feeling of loss by shining a light of love.

Donations made to CovenantCare Hospice in honor or memory of a loved one provides a symbolic light to be placed and lit during this year’s Love Light Tree ceremony at 7 p.m. Dec. 2.  In addition, the names of all individuals memorialized and honored will be scrolled on a screen at the beginning and end of the ceremony. The event will be held at Monte Vista Chapel, 1619 E. Monte Vista Ave. in Turlock.

The ceremony is open to the public and registration is not required. Donations must be received by November 20 to be recognized during the lighting celebration.

After the lighting celebration, the tree will be displayed at Covenant Village of Turlock at 2125 N. Olive Ave. and will remain there throughout the holidays.

The Love Light ceremony will include a short program by the CovenantCare Hospice team, special musical performance and a candle lighting memorial service with refreshments to follow. The special musical performance features Alan Pederson, an award winning songwriter and successful recording artist. A former Nashville writer, Pederson turned the focus of his music and message toward helping the bereaved find hope and healing as they navigate the valley of grief.

Donations for symbolic lights may be mailed or hand delivered to EMC Health located at 2881 Geer Road, Suite A, in Turlock. For more information, phone 664-5180.
