It’s time for Turlockers to take out the trash.
From 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, the City of Turlock will be holding its annual event, tabbed as Embrace Turlock’s Beauty, that helps locals properly dispose of garbage.
Hosted at the Turlock Scavenger station at 1100 S. Walnut Rd., residents can drop off one load of trash for free. Loads can consist of typical garbage as well as e-waste like televisions, appliances, printers, microwaves and more. Sealed gas cylinders like propane or oxygen and untreated wood will be turned away. No vehicle load larger than a pick-up truck will be accepted and there must be no less than nine tires per load.
To be able to drop off trash at the event, residents must provide their picture ID with a Turlock address and their September 2024 City of Turlock utility bill. TID, PG&E or cell phone bills will not be accepted. No more than one load will be accepted per current utility bill.
Loads cannot include hazardous waste like paint, cleaning products, oil or batteries — those can be dropped off for free across the street at 901 S. Walnut Rd. at Stanislaus County’s Household Hazardous Waste collection event from 8 a.m. to noon that same day. Loads will be limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds. Residents are encouraged to get there as soon as possible, as the event could close off if the waste collection facility becomes full.
