History of Business: It’s no surprise that there has been a statewide effort to find creative solutions to conserve energy and natural resources, but Turlock businessman Matt Anderson has been ahead of the curve for the past decade.

For the past 25 years Matt Anderson has owned and operated Matt Anderson Electric, a family business that includes his wife and two daughters. After 15 years of establishing his role in the electric industry in Turlock, Anderson sensed a shift in the industry towards solar. Seeing an opportunity to cater to clients' broader needs, Anderson began his venture into the solar industry eager to offer both electric and solar options to regional businesses and residents.

“We saw the industry going that way,” said Anderson whose company has installed over 100 projects to date and was one of the first locally to pursue using solar resources.

Anderson began by performing subcontracted jobs through JKB Energy, a relationship that the company still maintains. At this point Matt Anderson Electric and Solar also designs and installs solar systems of all sizes from residential to commercial. While the company still does residential jobs for JKB, ultimately the type of project is secondary to the company’s emphasis on good, quality work no matter the size of the job.

“We use really good products,” said solar office administrator Tasha Anderson.

Each year the family heads to Portland to Solar World, a solar panel manufacturer, to hand inspect products prior to purchase.
