Q: How did you first become interested in becoming an educator?
A: I started my path to becoming an educator by teaching vocational English to refugees during my early college years. I realized at that time that this would be my future career.
Q: What do you hope to see Cunningham Elementary School students accomplish this year?
A: First and foremost, my hope is that EVERY child meets or exceeds their grade level standards this year within a caring and motivating environment. I also hope our entire Cunningham School community feels that our school is one that meets their educational, professional and emotional needs.
Q: What's something that comes with the job of being principal that most may not expect?
A: As a principal, my roles are varied: instructional leader, crossing guard, custodian, parent, chauffeur, milk carton-opener…
Q: What is your favorite part about working with students every day?
A: I absolutely LOVE seeing the students smiling as they arrive to school. I also enjoy visiting the classrooms and seeing the progress they are making with their learning.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Turlock for fun?
A: I am usually busy on my ranch and showing my horse. However, the restaurants and shopping are fabulous! I try to steal some time away to truly enjoy Turlock and all it has to offer.
Q: What is the last book or TV show that captivated you?
A: I enjoy watching the series, “This is Us.” It captured me from the first episode.
Q: What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
A: For relaxation, I enjoy sitting in the pens with my petting zoo friends (pigs, goats, lamb, mini horse, mini donkey…)
