Locals who enjoy spending their Saturdays frequenting yard sales will now have an opportunity to browse the goods of more than 70 sellers in one place next Saturday at the annual Cornerstone Covenant Church Community Yard Sale.

The annual event proves beneficial for both buyers and sellers as the yard sale allows locals to not only peruse hundreds of items, but also affords those who may not be able to typically hold a sale, such as those in apartment complexes, a venue to sell their items.

“As a seller, the community yard sale is an excellent motivator to clean out the garage. I know several sellers who will put off their annual purging each year until the sale comes around in September. As a buyer, the yard sale is a bargain seekers’ paradise,” said Justin Marty, the event organizer for the past four years.

However, whether individuals are getting rid of unnecessary goods or adding to their collection, the ultimate cause of the event is to offer an opportunity for local non-profit organizations to interface with the community to in order to gain exposure and raise funds. This year the yard sale will play host to the Prodigal Sons and Daughters, We Care Turlock, Turlock Gospel Mission, and Celebrate Recovery.

“The sale provides some great local nonprofits the opportunity to get out and meet some people they wouldn't normally see,” said Marty.

More than 70 sellers in Turlock flock to the annual event, which marks the largest community sale in Turlock.

Those interested in selling at the Community Yard Sale can visit the Cornerstone Covenant Church office at 4105 Crowell Rd. or call 667-6768 for more information. The sale will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6 at Cornerstone Covenant.
