With the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders preseasons underway, local businesses around the area are preparing for a long football season with various specials that include viewing of the Bay Area National Football League teams.

In Turlock, Jura's Pizza will be the hot spot for this season with the addition of the Sunday NFL Ticket through DirecTV, which includes all 32 team games, including the blacked out contests. With nearly a dozen televisions, one projector and a second getting ready to be installed for the football season, there is no doubt that Jura’s will be a favorite spot for local NFL fans.

“We pay extra for DirecTV, so we get every single game even blacked out, all Raiders, 49ers games will be shown,” Jura’s general manager Patiola Aghassi said.

On top of all games, Jura’s will be running specials on beverages and food. The beer specials will run during the games, starting with 49ers and Raiders souvenir beer cups at $3.50 for domestic beers, and refills for $1.75.

New to the scene at Jura’s will be the selling of hard liquor after the establishment recently obtained a liquor license.

Food specials will vary, but Jura's plans to introduce garlic fries for the games, along with a new menu for the season, Aghassi said.

Jura's is located at 209 N. Center St., in Turlock.

Lamppost Pizza, located at 2321 W. Main St. in Turlock, will be hosting the 49ers and Raiders games with specials running for drinks, as well as food.

“We do a lot of handouts; give gold, black and red beads. Also, we are going to do $2 off pitchers of beer and $3 off small and medium pizzas,” Lamppost owner Kevin Brophy said. “We are also doing $5 off the larges. Same prices apply for pick-ups.”

In honor of hometown hero Colin Kaepernick, Lamppost is designating itself 49ers Central and Kaepernick Country, Brophy said.

If gathering friends for a home viewing party is more your style, Turlock businesses have the perfect way to show support for the 49ers and Kaepernick — and Raiders, too.

Much like last season, Frost Bakery will be doing 49ers, Raiders and Kaepernick cupcakes. Frost will offer a discount for large cupcake orders, however, they need to be ordered and picked up in advance as the bakery is closed on Sundays.

“People in this area host great football parties and they can enjoy it with our cupcakes,” Frost owner Shelly Koch said.

Frost is located at 2014 W. Monte Vista Ave., in Turlock and 901 N. Carpenter Rd., in Modesto.

After receiving rave reviews on their Kaepernick-themed Super Bowl creations, Lisa’s Cookie Jar will revive their football cookies for the upcoming season.

“We saw more customers come in, people from all over; I had somebody from LA and from Las Vegas come for Kap cookies. They are mostly special orders, but anybody interested needs to call in early because last year we were overwhelmed with orders,” Lisa’s Cookie Jar owner Lisa Fernandes said. “We do carry them, but to guarantee it, you need to place an order.”

Special orders must also be placed on Saturday, due to the bakery being closed on Sundays. On top of the Kap cookies, Lisa’s will be selling football cookies from all NFL teams.

Lisa's Cookie Jar is located at 115 S. Broadway, in downtown Turlock.

Olde Tyme Pastries in Turlock plans on making all sorts of football-themed items this season.

“We're hoping to do some cookies, but we will definitely do football and helmet cakes,” Olde Tyme Pastries owner Sherry Wagner said. “People come in and order different things; we've got logos from 49ers, Raiders, but we take orders for any teams."

Olde Tyme Pastries is located at 2225 Geer Rd., in Turlock.
