History of Business:

It’s easy to find women’s boutiques when walking the streets of downtown Turlock, but the options for men have been few and far between – until now. Loja Do Homen is home to brands that Turlock men won’t find anywhere else, including Fidelity, Robert Graham and 7 Diamonds.

“I wanted to bring these products to Turlock so that people no longer have to drive to the Bay Area to find what they want,” said Loja Do Homen owner Luis Oliveira.

Located at 120 W. Main St., the space was formerly home to Oliveira’s furniture store, Designz. But, Oliveira eventually decided that the room would be better suited for a clothing store, resulting in Loja Do Homen, which means “men’s store” in Portuguese.

“I thought I’d be unique and give it a Portuguese name since the area is home to so many Portuguese people,” said Oliveira.

Loja Do Homen carries the brand French Kick, which is made in Portugal, as well as Threads 4 Thought – an all-organic cotton clothing line. He brings in many high-end products from San Francisco and Los Angeles, providing a unique display of clothing that can’t be found anywhere else in the Valley. Oliveira also represents numerous small boutique manufacturers from New York, whose pieces can be found in the boutique. Pieces from Oliveira’s furniture store in Modesto adorn the seating area and can be purchased as well.

Since its grand opening Tuesday night, Loja Do Homen has found success in the thriving downtown area.

“I’m so excited to be in downtown Turlock – it’s beautiful, it’s lively,” said Oliveira. “And, things are going really well. I had someone come in and buy an entire outfit off of a mannequin yesterday.”
