Local veterans looking to enroll or learn more about Veteran’s Administration services and benefits will have that opportunity when the VA Mobile Medical Outreach Clinic rolls into town Friday.

In collaboration with Turlock VFW Post 5059, the VA mobile clinic will be at the VFW Hall at 1405 E. Linwood Avenue in Turlock from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

The clinic is bringing Veteran Service Officers, Enrollment Specialists, and medical staff from the VA Rural Health Mobile team out of Palo Alto, said Valerie Gabriel, a VA rural outreach coordinator.

Eligibility requirements for VA care have changed and those previously denied may now be eligible, Gabriel said.

Veterans will be able to enroll for VA care at the clinic. In addition, Veteran Service Officers will be available to review benefits, assist with updating existing disability claims and filing new claims.

The California Telephone Access Program will also be on site distributing free phone access equipment to the veteran’s in need of it.

Veterans should bring a copy of their discharge papers to the clinic.
