The Turlock Police Department is investigating a collision between a pickup truck and a semi truck trailer that resulted in the death of one individual.

The deceased was identified as Antonio De La Torre, 28, of Turlock.

The collision was reported around 11 p.m. Saturday at 5th and D streets.

De La Torre was driving a Dodge Ram that struck the parked trailer from the front, becoming wedged another the trailer and a building.

Turlock firefighters arrived at the scene and could see the driver pinned in the vehicle. The Turlock Police Department said De La Torre never showed any signs that he was conscious.

The Turlock firefighters used some of their heavy equipment to lift the trailer and pull the truck out from underneath it.

Turlock firefighters worked to make access to the De La Torre using heavy extrication tools.
“Once crews made access to the patient, paramedics determined that the patient was deceased,” the fire department stated on their Facebook page.

De La Torre’s family arrived at the scene of the collision, having been told about it by a friend. A chaplain was on scene to assist the family, according to the police department.
The Turlock Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene to conduct an investigation.
