The Turlock police and fire departments came to the rescue of an elderly couple that had fallen and were unable to get help for several days.

The woman, who is in her late 60s and the man, who is in his late 80s, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being found three days after falling.

The two departments were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of High Street around 2 p.m. Saturday after getting a call from a neighbor reporting she could hear a woman screaming for help, said Turlock Police Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The two had both fallen sometime on Wednesday, the circumstances of which are unknown. Neither was able to get up or assist the other one. The woman was eventually able to crawl to the front door and call out for help, Holeman said.

Adult Protective Services was contacted to assist the two residents.
