There wasn't a bike race happening in Turlock on Sunday morning, although it looked as though that was the case. It was a "bike run for fun," according to Jose Garcia who teamed up with Mario Martinez of Turlock and the Rolling Relics of Modesto to bring this family-oriented function to Turlock.  The event brought people from various locations including Gilroy, Sacramento and the Bay Area.  Garcia, who works for the City of Turlock, has participated in various bike runs with the Rolling Relics and wanted to bring one to Turlock.

"Turlock is a great community and I can't think of a better way to show others the wonderful parks and scenery Turlock has to offer," said Garcia.

The route started at Jura's Pizza on Center Street at 10 a.m. with an hour break at Togo's on Geer Road and concluded at Jura's in the late afternoon.

With various styles of bicycles and an estimated 190 bicyclists, the ride stopped many bystanders and vehicles and even encouraged random bicyclist to join in.  Chris Montoya who helped start the Rolling Relics emphasized that they were not a bike "club" and that all are welcome to join in on the bike runs.  Montoya participates in at least one bike run a month and plans to head to Santa Rosa and Yosemite within the next few weeks.  He also stated he was open to help host another run in Turlock in the future.
