Turlock Irrigation District linemen Josh Klikna, Steve Johnson and Dustin Krieger made their way to Gresham, Oregon, this past weekend for the 25th annual Pacific Northwest Lineman Rodeo — an action-packed event that pits teams of linemen and apprentices against each other in activities that test their speed, safety and trade skills such as Wire Down, High Line Insulator Replacement, Hurt-Man Rescue, Bell Replacement and more.

The linemen from TID placed first in the simulated Wire Down event where a crew must safely repair a broken power line that has fallen to the ground with a time of 223 seconds. The team also found success in the High Line Insulator Replacement event, earning second place by taking 368.010 seconds to climb to the top of a tall power pole and replace a simulated broken insulator.

The team was sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 1245 and placed second overall out of a field of 35 teams from the Western U.S. and Canada.
