Take one dollar, now double it. Then double that. And double that. Consistent one dollar contributions can amount to some serious change, which Tractor Supply Company in Turlock has seen in just two days as more than $135 has been raised though $1 donations for the national chain's 4-H Paper Clover Campaign.
4-H is a youth development program administered by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture that uses a university-backed curriculum to engage its members in hands-on learning activities in the areas of science, healthy living, and food security. Tractor Supply Company recently announced its annual partnership with 4-H to raise funds to support the programs, hoping to top their amount of $3.2 million fundraised nationally last year. So far at the Turlock branch, customers are consistently contributing to the cause by purchasing a $1 green four leaf clover to showcase in the store.
"On our first day, which was Wednesday, we sold 62 clovers. We sold 72 on Thursday and are anticipating getting into the hundreds this weekend," said Bret Cervantez, assistant store manager at Tractor Supply Company in Turlock.
Customers can purchase paper clovers between now and May 4 for only $1 during checkout and the funds will go towards youth development program activities in 4-H communities where Tractor Supply stores are located. While the funds do not go directly to the local chapters, the contributions amassed at the national level play a significant role in each chapter’s program development.
“This event marks the fourth year of collaboration with Tractor Supply Company. This continued relationship provides us with the necessary resources to manage and strengthen our 4-H organizations across the U.S.," said Jennifer Sirangelo, president and CEO of the National 4-H Council.
The effort has provided direct support for local camps, after-school programs and other activities, granting youth the opportunity to explore their interests in everything from animal science to robotics.
“We were so thrilled by the results of last year’s Paper Clover Campaign, and with the help of our dedicated customers we hope to meet and exceed that goal this year,” said John Wendler, senior vice president of marketing for Tractor Supply Company. “Partnering with 4-H gives us the opportunity to enhance our store’s communities and provide support to local organizations.”
Tractor Supply Company operates more than 1,245 stores in 48 states and is focused on supplying the lifestyle needs of recreational farmers and ranchers. Tractor Supply Company customers can purchase paper clovers at local stores until May 4. The Turlock store is located at 201 North Walnut Rd.
