Travelers to Latin America urged to take precautions to prevent Zika

Individuals planning on holiday travel to Latin America, and especially Mexico are being advise to protect against mosquito bites as those areas are experiencing higher incidents of the Zika virus. Many areas of Mexico are now experiencing transmission of the Zika virus, particularly popular tourist destinations, including Cancun, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, and Mazatlan. The states of Baja California Sur, where Cabo San Lucas is located, and Sonora, which borders Arizona, have recently reported local Zika virus transmission.

The shelves are slowly emptying at the Rite Aid on Monte Vista Avenue as the national drugstore chain prepares to close all its locations (KRISTINA HACKER/The Journal).
The shelves at Turlock’s Rite Aid drugstore on Monte Vista Avenue are slowly being emptied and signs posted on the store’s popular Thrifty counter state “No More Ice-Cream” with a cartoon cone sporting a frowny face. An employee of the local drugstore on Thursday confirmed to curious customers that the store will be closing its doors, but he didn’t know exactly when.
