Turlock native Sabrina Vann will be competing against the best hairstylists from across the country as she was named a finalist in the annual Wella Student Competition in the 2013 America’s Beauty Show in Chicago.

With almost 500 entries submitted from 37 cosmetology schools across the nation, Vann is one of 24 finalists who will be competing in the “Sebastian Professionals" category. The Turlock High graduate is currently a cosmetology student at the prestigious Bellus Academy located in San Diego.

“We are thrilled to have Sabrina Vann represent Bellus Academy in the Wella Student Competition 2013 at ABS this year,” says Lynelle Lynch, president of Bellus Academy. “I am personally excited by the unyielding creativity and unsurpassed excellence of our students. We fully encourage and support our students to fulfill their childhood dreams, and competing at this level is part of that exciting process.”

For her Sebastian Student Competition 2013 submission, Vann was deeply inspired by a play on textiles and the Sebastian collection, aiming for a look that was young and innovative, while seamlessly communicating her vision.

The Chicago competition is just a step on the road to Vann's career goals.

“After I graduate from Bellus, the next step in building my career will hopefully be to assist an amazing stylist.  My dream job is becoming a master stylist and platform artist – I have developed a true passion for editorial and runway work,” said Vann.

The Wella Student Competition takes place on Monday in the Wella Professionals exhibit at America’s Beauty Show, McCormick Place, Chicago.
