Turlock teen dies in high-speed collision

An 18-year-old Turlock man died in a head on collision Monday morning that also injure tow others.
The deceased was identified as Timothy Rigney.
The collision happened at 5:50 a.m. Monday on South Carpenter Road, near the intersection with West Fulkerth Road.
Rigney was driving a 1998 Saturn sedan and was passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Saturn was in the northbound lane when Rigney lost control of the vehicle, which began to spin out, the CHP reported.
The Saturn struck a 2008 Nissan Altima traveling in the northbound lane.
Rigney was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, according to the CHP.
A passenger in the Saturn, Troy Preston, 22, of Modesto sustained major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
The Nissan driver, Kenneth Bodiker, 47, had moderate injuries and was taken to Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing. It’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved.
