Veterans Of Foreign Wars Turlock Post 5059 is inviting community members to help them break in a brand new monument for their location at 1405 E Linwood Ave. The monument was made by E Clampus Vitus, a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving and honoring history, and has been in the works for nearly a year and a half.

The “Clampers,” as they call themselves, have done several monuments across the nation, including in Modesto. Post 5059 Commander Wardee Bruce explained that it’s an honor to have one of their monuments dedicated to his organization and that its unveiling has been highly anticipated.

“They do a lot of monuments all over the country, so it's just been a matter of waiting for them to find the time to do the official unveiling and dedication,” he explained. “Now they're getting around to doing one for us, and we're sure happy to have it.”

The unveiling and dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the VFW Turlock Post 5059 on East Linwood. Bruce added that free refreshments will be on hand for guests.

“It’s going to be a great time and we hope everyone can join us,” he said. “It’s very exciting to be able to have this.”
