A Turlock woman was killed in a solo crash Sunday night in Hilmar.

The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Cassy Mancebo.

The California Highway Patrol suspects Mancebo was under the influence of alcohol when she crashed her 2003 Ford Focus.

Mancebo was driving the Ford eastbound on American Avenue, west of Columbus Avenue in Hilmar around 8 p.m. Sunday.

The CHP said Mancebo drove her vehicle off the road and then overcorrected and veered across the other lane.

The Ford crashed into a concrete rail and a wood fence before rolling over. The vehicle came to a rest on its wheels in a corn field.

Mancebo, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected during the collision and sustained fatal injuries, the CHP reported.

The CHP found evidence of alcohol consumption at the scene of the crash.

Mancebo was a 2003 graduate of Hilmar High School and was currently employed at the assisted-living center, Turlock Residential.

Her friends remembered her as a woman who enjoyed painting and playing the guitar and had a dream of becoming a stand-up comedian.

“She was an eccentric and unique personality,” said her friend Lisa Freitas.
