A third man involved in a car crash that killed two local men died Wednesday night from injuries sustained during the collision.

Zachary Baker, 23, of Turlock had been hospitalized with major injuries since the single-vehicle collision June 28.

Baker is the third fatality from the collision. Duarte Nunes, 39, of Turlock and Dominic Coelho, 23, of Hilmar were pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision happened shortly after 1 a.m. June 28 on Walnut Road, north of Harding Road.

Alexander Swanton, 21, of Turlock was driving a 2007 Cadillac at a speed in excess of 80 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol. Swanton made a sudden turn and the vehicle veered off the road and overturned several times before coming to rest in an alfalfa field.

Baker, Nunes, and Coelho were not wearing seat belts and were ejected during the rollover, according to the CHP.

Swanton was wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries.

The collision remains under investigation, though the CHP does not believe alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor.

Baker was a graduate of Turlock High School and was employed by Hilmar Cheese Company.

Visitation for Baker will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, also at Turlock Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
