Some of California State University, Stanislaus’ finest musical talent will take the stage Thursday in a Gala Concert event.

The collaboration between the Turlock Concert Association and the university’s music department will feature traditional and contemporary music performances by CSU Stanislaus faculty and students, including the choral, wind and jazz ensembles.

“This concert truly serves as a showcase for the Department of Music in that it will feature all of our major student ensembles — choral, wind, and jazz — as well as solo performances by outstanding faculty and student artists, together in one evening,” said Music Department Chair Deborah Kavasch. “No other event during the year highlights the exceptional range of talent and musicianship accomplished by our students and faculty. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the TCA and to reach out to their audience.”

This marks the second such collaboration between the university and TCA following a well- attended concert in 2010 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of CSU Stanislaus.

The performance will take place at the Turlock Community Theatre located at 1574 E. Canal Drive at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The concert is included in the TCA subscription series and individual concert tickets are $12 general admission, and $8 for seniors, military, students and CSU faculty and staff.

Tickets will be available at the door or may be purchased online at www.csustan.edu/SOA. Proceeds benefit the Department of Music Scholarship Fund.
