Playhouse Merced is starting the new year off with a production of “Bullshot Crummond,” a parody of a classic British detective movie.

A plane crash in the English countryside, a kidnapped professor, and a nefarious scheme are a call to action for detective and hero Bullshot Crummond.  As he attempts to unravel the mystery behind the kidnapping, he displays every bit of the courage, confidence, and stupidity that have made him the hero he is.  With the help of the kidnapped scientist’s daughter, he pursues Otto Von Brunno, the evil villain, undeterred by traps, tricks, explosions, and a whole variety of near-death experiences.

“Bullshot Crummond” is a theatre classic which has been entertaining audiences for decades.  Told in the style of a classic, 1930s thriller, the show recreates the special effects and high drama to create laugh-inducing comedy.

The cast is made up of five actors.

Tickets are on sale now, and performances will be through Jan. 20. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. This is an all-ages show and tickets are $22 with $15 student tickets and $10 under-18 tickets available through the box office.  For tickets and information, go to playhousemerced.com or call the box office at 725-8587.
