Amanouel Simon, 82 of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center. He was born in Moscow, Russia to Slivo and Regina Simon and attended schools there. He left Russia in 1945 and migrated to Iran. The family worked as shepherds and times were difficult, but Amanouel learned his trade as a shoemaker and he made shoes for children for 40 years. In 1945 he married Maria Givargis. Amanuoel moved to the United States and to Turlock, California in 1993. He was a member of the Mar Addai Church of the East and the Assyrian-American Civic Club in Turlock.
Amanouel was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters and brothers. He is survived by his four children, Svetlana (George) Betdashto of Henderson, NV, Sylvana Simon of Burbank, Diana Simon of Turlock, Albert (Stella) Simon of Glendale; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25 at Allen Mortuary with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
