Christian V. L. Chin, 60, of Turlock died peacefully on Dec. 6, 2017 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto after battling liver cancer. His illness came as a shock to him and his loved ones since he was health-conscious and exercised daily. A week before Christian’s death, he was excited to reunite with his family after spending 3 weeks in Baltimore, where he completed his job training for his recent promotion. He was proud of his 14-year career as a Food Inspector for the USDA. Christian was a humble, hard-working man and a devoted husband and father.

He graduated from California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance in 1990. Christian was a lifelong fan of Formula One auto racing. His favorite pastime was renting exotic cars to race against his daughter. He also enjoyed traveling, including road trips to Vancouver to visit one of his sisters. He especially loved visiting his family, with his wife, in their birthplace of Borneo.

Christian was preceded in death by his father, Chin Chi Vui; his mother, Leong Yuk Lan; and one of his brothers, Albert Chin. He is survived by his daughter, Fiona Chin, and his beloved wife, Suzan Chin, who is greatly saddened to have spent their 31st wedding anniversary in the ICU.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock. Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at Turlock Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fiona Chin’s Scholarship Fund at F&M Bank, 2340 Geer Road, Turlock, CA 95382.
