Cleo Shepherd, 93, of Modesto, was born in Tecumseh, Okla. to Laney and Cora Kindle. She grew up and attended school in Howe, Okla. She married Loyd Shepherd in 1936. They started their family and moved to Modesto, Calif. by train in 1942. Loyd was as an auto body worker in earlier years; and later a radio and television repairman (when TVs were the latest new technology!) Cleo was the faithful wife, homemaker and mom. They lived in the South Bay Area most of their married life. Much of their family life revolved around their involvement in their church, Fremont First Assembly of God Church.
Cleo is survived by eight children, Conley (Marie) Shepherd of Norco, Anita Black of Modesto, Alene House of Gooding, Idaho, Charlotte Shepherd of Modesto, Jane (Dwight) Foreman of Wilton, Gail Shepherd of Tracy, Larry (Barbara) Shepherd of Whitmore and Ronald Shepherd of Modesto. She also leaves a legacy of at least 50 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd; and son, Paul Shepherd.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
