Deloris Lucille Fagundes was born Deloris Lucille Pirtle on December 13, 1933 in Missouri to William and Francis Pirtle. At a young age, her parents moved her, her sister, and her 2 brothers to Denair, CA where they attended school. Deloris later married Louis Daniel Fagundes and moved to Turlock where she continued to live and raise her children.

Deloris passed away peacefully on November 8, 2017 at Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Francis; her husband, Louis Fagundes; and her son, Marvin. Deloris is survived by her children, Patricia Callaway, Donna Rehana, Ron Fagundes, Dale Fagundes, Jane Guzman, Betty Lou Sanders, Mark Fagundes, Alan Fagundes, and Rodney Fagundes. She is also survived by a very large extended family that includes her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and in-laws - which exceed 90 immediate family members.

Deloris was a natural caregiver. While her favorite job was being a mother to her children, she also took a lot of pride in caring for the elderly. She participated in TOPS and also worked for the Good Samaritan House. She loved to paint, and could easily get lost inside one of her own paintings.

Although there were many things that Deloris loved to do, being a mother and a grandmother was the job she was most proud of. Nothing could light up her face with a smile quite like seeing her family together at the same time.

As the matriarch of her family, Deloris started many traditions, especially the “Love U 1st” tradition that her family will be sure to continue. There is no better way to honor a loved one than to celebrate the life they lived with the lives they created.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 6 p.m., on Thursday, November 16. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17. All service will be held at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
