Deward passed away at home due to natural causes. He was a native of Kentucky, attending schools there. He enlisted in the Air Force during WWII, and afterward moved to CA .He became an Electrical Contractor and owned and operated Sorrell Electric and Hardware for many years.

He is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Sorrell two step children, Alette Lanchester, and David Nervino. One sister, Jackie Thorkelson of Redding CA.

Deward was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Turlock #395 F&AM, and a Shriner.

A funeral service will held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. Burial will be private at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
