When World War II was over, Murine took her discharge and moved to Pomona with several of her friends who were also nurses. There she met and married Richard Havens in 1949. They moved to San Luis Obispo where Richard finished getting his teaching credential at Cal Poly.
They started their family and moved to Brentwood, where Richard taught agriculture. In 1964, they moved to Modesto where Richard taught at Modesto Junior College.
