Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Doris Pauline Hatley-Barker, 93, was ushered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Dec. 7.
Doris Pauline Hatley was born on May 18, 1916, the sixth child of 10 to Sherrod Alexander and Evalena Watson-Hatley, in Donley County, Texas (Clarendon Hospital). The family resided in Brice until Doris was age 12, when they moved to Goodnight, Texas.
Doris married Clyde D. Barker at age 18 on Feb. 28, 1935, at the Donley County Courthouse by Rev. S. R. McClung.
Aside from one brief move to California, Doris and Clyde lived in Clarendon and raised their two daughters, Shirley and Vicki there. Then, in 1955, they relocated to California where they remained until 2003. They then moved to Wimberley, Texas, near Austin, for their twilight years.
Doris was a faithful member of the Clarendon Church of Christ; then, in Indio, and for over 40 years in Turlock.
She is survived by husband, Clyde D. Barker; daughters, Shirley Barbour and Vicki and her husband, Dave, Estey, all of Wimberley, Texas; grandchildren, Shari Lee-Hill and Rick Lee of Los Angeles, Craig and Kathy Estey and Brett Estey, of Virginia; four great-grandchildren; three brothers in California; one sister in Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10 at Robertson’s Funeral Home in Clarendon, Texas. There will be no formal services nor graveside service. A private service will be held at a later time for immediate family only. Doris will be laid to rest at Citizen’s Cemetery in Clarendon, Texas.
