Elizabeth McDermott, 93, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Nov. 27, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Modesto. She was born in San Francisco to Hyalmar Amandis Jansson (Johanson) and Jenny Quist Jansson.  

Married in October 1941, the newlyweds were separated by World War II. Her husband enlisted in the Army and served in England, Italy and North Africa. Elizabeth served the war effort by working at Fort Mason.  A long time resident of Modesto, she and her husband had many enjoyable years in retirement traveling with friends, spending the summer at their mountain cabin and a very special place aka “Camp 10,” the family homestead. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester McDermott (Mac); sister, Eleanore Argall; and brother, Henry Jansson. She is survived by her daughters, Joanne McDermott of Stockton and Linda McDermott of Modesto; granddaughter, Amy Padilla; and great grandchildren, Jessica Elizabeth and Dylan McDermott.

A private family service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary in Turlock.
