Born Oct. 6, 1921 near Anaheim, Orange County, CA to Fred and Grace Marriott (deceased).
He had 1 brother Fred (deceased) and 1 sister, Sylvia. He was married to his wife, Adelaide (deceased), for over 63 years. Elmer is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Liz) Bunch (Jerry), Carol Ahlem (Jim) and Christie Marriott, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Elmer graduated from Turlock High School-1939, attended Cal Poly and MJC prior to joining the Army-Air Corp during World War II. He was stationed in England, where he met Adelaide. After returning to Turlock he started his All Jersey Dairy, which he loved. He was a farmer at heart and enjoyed working with animals and the land. He won many quality awards while in the dairy business. He also worked for American Breeders, Cal-Dari and Cal Co-op.
While working for Cal Co-Op, he was very involved in implementing protein premiums for the dairymen. He also spent many years on various school boards and was a founding member of the Chatom School Board. He served on the Turlock High School Board and the Stanislaus County School Board Assn. He was a member of SIRs and First United Methodist Church, Turlock.
He and Adelaide were also members of Turlock Pleasure Seekers RV club and enjoyed travelling to many vacation spots. He enjoyed fishing from Baja to Alaska. Over the years, he made and donated over 700 wooden cars and trucks to Turlock Together for their Christmas Baskets.
He loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by everyone. A private burial will be held.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday March 28, 2012, at 2PM at First United Methodist Church, 160 Arbor Way, Turlock. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Elmer’s name to your favorite charity.
