Gioletti

Emma Pauline Gioletti, 93, was born in Chowchilla and passed away Friday at her home in Turlock surrounded by her devoted family.

Emma leaves behind son, Robert (Eloise) Gioletti  and Ricky Gioletti, both of Turlock; sisters, Jennie Gioletti Souza of Ceres and Virginia Lasiter of Chowchilla; grandchildren, Lisa Gioletti, Jason Gioletti, Justin (Fatima) Gioletti, Devin (Sara) Gioletti and Anthony Gioletti; great grandchildren, George, Jacob, and Genevieve Gioletti; and her loving caregiver of six years, Mary Reis, who made it possible for her to stay on her beloved ranch until the end. Emma was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Gioletti ; parents, Bartolomae and Nicholina Olivero; and brothers, Andrea and Toni Olivero.

Emma was raised in Chowchilla where she and her brothers and sisters worked on the family dairy along with working in the grape and cotton fields in the surrounding area. She married George Gioletti in 1941. George had been blinded at an early age, but these two determined people set out to start their own dairy. They purchased 40 acres of bare land and built a Grade A dairy barn and a small house. They shipped their first gallon of Grade A milk on July 15, 1941. They worked side by side along with their sons until George’s death in 1976. The old barn was still in use until July 14, 2009, when Emma’s son and grandsons opened a new milking barn on adjoining property.

Anyone who knew Emma knows how hard working and determined she was. She supplied handmade blankets for friends and family with new babies. Emma worked at the Turlock and Modesto canneries and the Turlock bomb plant. She donated her time and efforts in the community for years: She was a member of the Y.L.I, I.C.F., Emanuel Hospital and Sacred Heart thrift shops, Turlock Eagles Lodge, Sacred Heart Daily Bread Ministries, Turlock Senior Center, and anything that was asked of her in the Mt. View Community.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24 at Allen Mortuary.  A combination Rosary and Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Emma’s name to the Mt. View Community Center, c/o Michael Carvalho, 11443 Crows Landing Rd., Crows Landing, CA 95313.
