Evelyn Elston was born in Van Nuys, Calif. She moved to Turlock in 1949 and graduated Turlock High School in 1959. She attended Modesto Junior College and graduated from Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz in 1964. She lived in Venice, Calif. after marrying James Aulds and taught school in the Watts District of LA. During this time her son James was born. She married Joe Elston in 1992.
Evelyn taught at Modesto Christian and Chatom Elementary School. After retirement, she did volunteer work for Teen Challenge.
Evelyn was a member, worker and piano player at Bethel Temple. An inspiration to many people, she was known for her gracious, sweet spirit and consistent Christian testimony.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Caroline Lucas; and husband, Joe Elston. She is survived by her son, James Auld of Turlock; and sister, Linda Hayes of Modesto.
In lieu of flowers, Evelyn requested donations for Turlock Gospel Mission, Modesto Gospel Mission or Teen Challenge in Turlock.
