Helen Ruth (Hunter) Bishop, a native of Turlock, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, after a short illness. She was 84.

The daughter of William and Myrtle Hunter, Helen was born July 20, 1926 at Emanuel Hospital.  She lived in Turlock until she graduated from Turlock High School in 1944. Shortly after graduation, she married Leon L. Bishop and spent the next 20 years traveling in the U.S. and abroad before resettling in Turlock upon her husband's Air Force retirement.

Active in THS Class of '44 functions and a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Wisteria Chapter #296, she worked for many years as a payroll clerk for Muller Berry Farms and served as a volunteer in the gift shop of Emanuel Hospital.

Helen was preceded in death by two infant sons and her husband and she leaves daughter, Stephanie L. Bishop; son, J. Gregory Bishop; grandson, Jeremy M. Bishop; and great grandson, Corbin A. Bishop.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21 at the Turlock Funeral Home with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park. Following the service, the family invites friends and relatives to share memories, stories and pictures at a commemorative gathering.
