Horace Jim “Brownie” Blackwell, 91, died peacefully at his home in Modesto surrounded by his loved ones. Horace was born in Octavia, OK to James and Beulah Blackwell. He moved to California as a young man. He married his life partner, Darlene Cameron, in 1950. He was a veteran of World War II.
Horace was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob Blackwell and his sister Eileen Hensley. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Darlene Blackwell; children: Georgia (Mack) Parker of Modesto, Larry (Carolyn) Cameron of Keyes, and Lou Ann (Ronnie) Elliott of Denair; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Friday, Aug. 26th from 4 to 6 pm. Funeral Service at Allen Mortuary on Sat, Aug. 27th at 10 am. Burial will follow at Ceres Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested for Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA 95356.
