Jose Borges died Sept. 19 in his residence in Hilmar. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel in Turlock. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20263 American Ave., Hilmar. A mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 24 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
He was born in Ponta Garca, Sao Miguel, Azores. He was a dairy farmer for eight years and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Hilmar and Casa Dos Azores.
He is survived by his wife, Madalena da Gloria Borges of Hilmar; sons, Jose L. Borges of Hilmar, Joao C. Borges of Tracy, Antero D. Borges of Atwater, Fernando Borges of Turlock and Leborio N. Borges of Hilmar; daughters, Maria F. Drumond and Maria “Nelinha” Borges of Modesto and Maria M. Freitas of Cinco Ribeiras, Terceira, Azores; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Services of Turlock.
