Joseph Makita, 85, of Delhi, was born on April 20, 1925, in Cressey and passed away on March 11 in Delhi.
He was an auto mechanic for 63 years and Dow Hammond was his last employer. He was one of Jehovah Witnesses in Delhi. He enjoyed taking pictures, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Makita of Delhi; son, Joe Makita, Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Delhi; daughters, Paula Blumenschein and her husband, John of Goshen, Ky. and Jodi Dahlquist and her husband, Mark of Salida; sisters, Ellen Taniguchi of Merced, Florence Hongo and her husband, Mas of San Mateo, Alice Okazaki of Foster City and Lilia Yamada and her husband, Hideo of Castro Valley; and grandchildren, John Robert Blumenschein, Katherine Rose Blumenschein and Shai Blumenschein, all of Goshen, Ky., 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haruzo and Shizu Makita; and brothers, Harry and Ernest Makita.
A private service will be held.
