Lena Mary Pulido, 81, passed away on April 25 in Hughson at Alexander Cohen Hospice. Lena was born October 1928 in Niles to Joe S. and Anna Pacheco from Santa Maria, Azores. Lena was the youngest of four children, speaking only Portuguese until the first grade. She lived on her family farm in the Hayward area and attended schools in the Bay Area
Lena was married to Antonio “Tony” Pulido in 1959, a year later in 1960, they moved to Patterson where they settled in and raised their five daughters; also becoming faithful Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She and Tony were married over 50 years; they reached their golden wedding anniversary in July of last year.
Lena and Tony relocated to San Francisco in 1995 to live with their daughter and son-in-law and help care for grandchildren. She truly enjoyed her time with her husband and family and her beloved Yorkie, “Frankie,” in beautiful San Francisco. For the first time she became a “city girl,” strolling in the marina area and hailing taxis.  In 2001, she moved with them to Atherton where they lived in the Menlo Park area until 2009. Recently, they returned to the Central Valley.  After a short illness, she passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side.  Lena enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and the “loves of her life” —  her grandchildren and great granddaughter.  Lena was a devout Jehovah’s Witness.  She will be cherished forever by her large family and will be remembered for her kindhearted and generous, caring spirit and for being known as “Mom” to so many.
Lena is survived by her husband, Antonio Pulido; daughters, Lillian Brown of Modesto, Lorraine Pulido of Patterson, Olga Pulido-Crowe (Bob Crowe) of Atherton, Elsie Kersevan  (Steve) of Brentwood and Linda Walden (John Johnson) of Ceres; grandchildren Jason Brown, Matthew Pulido, Kenneth and Michael Walden, Christopher and Kenna Kersevan, Scott and Annalisa Crowe and Sydney Johnson; great granddaughter, Brittany Brown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Manuel Pacheco and George Pacheco; and sister, Mabel Ray.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Patterson, in the near future. Please contact Allen Mortuary, or visit www.allenmortuary.com to share your condolences, and get updated service information.
