Maria Senhorinha Aguiar, of Turlock, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, November 18, 2019. She was 72 years old. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Serafim and Helena Aguiar; her brother, Serafim Aguiar Jr.; and her sister, Brigida Aguiar. She is survived by her brothers and sisters: John Aguiar, Joe Aguiar, Connie Madruga, Sera Baer, Helen Vitorino, Tony Aguiar, Teresa Perry and Gina Dinh, and countless nieces and nephews. 

Maria was born on October 30, 1947 in S. Jorge, Acores. At the age of 19, she immigrated with her family to California. A woman of faith, her loyalty was to her work for the church. She dedicated her time to her family and her parish community, Our Lady of the Assumption. 

Maria had a passion for sewing and cooking and an enthusiasm for reading, puzzles, crosswords and keeping up with current events. She never said no to a game of cards and always made sure you never left her house empty handed. She will be greatly missed. 

A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Rd., Turlock. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Following the Mass, Maria will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.
