Born on October 28, 1916 in Ford, Kansas to Ralph & Florence Emrie Pinney.  She was number 6 in a large musical family of 3 boys and 6 girls.  She graduated from Mullinville Kansas High School.

1n 1938, she married Robert H. Holmes in Andover, Kansas and lived in Wichita, Kansas.   In 1951, they moved their family to California, Living in Livingston, Monterey and Turlock. Her husband passed away in 1996 in Turlock. 

In August 1998, she married Robert J. Gerig of Merced and lived in Covenant Village in Turlock until he passed away in 2007. 

Maxine is survived by her children, Robert P. Holmes of Atwater, Maxane Holms Hylton (Jerald) of Gardenerville, NV., and Jan Holmes Heppner (Gary) of Turlock.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock.
