Melvin William Reiswig, 95, died peacefully on Tuesday at Stratford at Beyer Park where he resided for the last six months.  Melvin was born in Boden, N.D. to Charlie and Maggie Reiswig and was one of nine children.  As a youth, Melvin spent his years between North and South Dakota helping on the family farm.  At age 19, Melvin came out to California where he settled in the Lodi area and worked as a mechanic, drove truck and worked on numerous ranches.  Melvin was drafted into the Army and spent a year in New Guinea.  In 1946 he married Genevieve Damas and they later moved to Hughson, where they started a dairy.  In 1955 they moved their dairy to Turlock where they had a dairy farm together for 40 years.

 Melvin was a hard worker and rarely took a day off.  He was a member of the Stanislaus County Holstein Breeders, East-West Dairymen Association (where he was president for many years), a life member of VFW Post #5059, American Legion and was commander of Hughson VFW Post for many years until it disbanded. 

 Melvin is survived by his current wife of 10 years, Eleanor Reiswig of Turlock; his daughter, Diane (David) Verissimo of Modesto; son, David (Loretta) of Ceres; and his beautiful grandchildren, Matthew (Jill) Reiswig of St. Paul, Minn., Jennifer (Kevin) Triplett of Redondo Beach, Sherri Verissimo of Redondo Beach, Heather Reiswig of St. Paul, Minn. and Melinda Verissimo of Huntington Beach. He is also survived by precious great grandsons, Peter Matthew and Leo Robert Reiswig of St. Paul, Minn.; brothers, Wilbert of Lodi, Arnie of Texas and Darvin of Oregon; sister, Doris Dosier of Stockton; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Maggie Reiswig; brothers, Ed and Bert Reiswig; sisters, Hattie Fischer and Selma Johnson; daughter, Gloria Trintini; grandson, Mark William Reiswig; and his wife of 48 years, Genevieve Reiswig.

 Visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 27 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 North Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 28 at Turlock Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
