Muriel Juliette (Fortin) LaMarre

Muriel Juliette (Fortin) Lamarre passed away while surrounded by the steadfast love of her family on Good Friday, March 25, 2016. She was born in New Bedford, MA as the eldest of 3 daughters to Yvonne and Lionel Fortin. At age 18, she married her handsome suitor, Arthur Lamarre.  With her husband in the Navy, they relocated to Redwood City, Ca in 1954. Over the next 10 years she had six children. While pregnant with their youngest, JoAnne, they moved to a 20 acre ranch in Turlock, CA in 1964. Yes, she was a busy and loving mother who imparted to her 2 daughters and 4 sons softness of heart, compassion, loyalty, integrity, and a strong work ethic. 

Later, she worked as an optician for 25 years with grace and professionalism. She enjoyed sewing, reading, music, cooking, bargain shopping (6 kids!), crafts, the comfort of her Catholic faith, and time shared with friends and family.  She was immeasurably proud of her children, God’s gift to her. 

Muriel joins those who preceded her in death: her parents, Yvonne and Lionel Fortin, and her husband, Arthur Lamarre, Sr.  She is survived, cherished, and remembered by her daughters Diane Davis and husband John, JoAnne Reed and husband Jerry; sons Arthur Lamarre, Jr., Kevin Lamarre and wife Sheri, Steven Lamarre and wife Kimberly, David Lamarre and wife Kym; sisters Vivian Brown and Rachel Figueiredo; grandchildren Darrin Lamarre, Michelle Daniel, Quinn Davis, Alisa Green, Michael Lamarre, Lucas Lamarre; great-grandson Miller Davis; and many beloved nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Turlock Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 425 N. Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA immediately followed by a celebration of life at VFW Hall at 1405 E. Linwood Ave, Turlock. Interment will occur on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Muriel may be made to Sacred Heart Church 1301 Cooper St, Turlock, CA 95380.
