Visitation for Pablo Martinez Segoviano, 80, of Patterson, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel in Turlock. A Rosary will be held 5 p.m. Aug. 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., Patterson. A mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 21 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., Patterson. Burial will be at Patterson District Cemetery.
He was born May 10, 1929, in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico and passed away Aug. 17, 2009, in Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. He was a farm laborer for 55 years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Patterson. He worked in the Cesar Chavez Untied Farm Laborer Union as a delegate, marched in union marches for better wages and against pesticides in the lettuce crops covering Sacramento, Salinas, Delano and Arizona. He also worked for the Fernando Chavez Law Firm in San Jose, Calif. Pablo enjoyed helping friends achieve their goals.
He is survived by his wife, Anselma Herrera Segoviano of Patterson; sons, Evaristo Segoviano of Patterson, Tony Segoviano of Modesto, John Segoviano of Patterson, Robert Segoviano of Patterson and Francisco Segoviano Jr. of Patterson; daughters, Angela Betancourt of Patterson, Guadalupe Santana of Modesto, Paula Castro of Oakdale and Maria Luisa Rodriguez of Patterson; brother, Gonzalo Segoviano of Planato, Texas; sisters, Angela Rivera of Patterson, Guadalupe Isquierdo of Patterson, Maria Barrera of Patterson and Joana Segoviano of Patterson; 27 grandchildren; and 48 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, Frank Segoviano; and brother, Eulalio Segoviano.
