Robert McClain

Turlock

Robert, known to his family and friends as Bob, was born in Colville, WA to Richard and Ruth Ann McClain in 1952.  He went to school in Washington and was a graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Accounting. Bob proudly maintained his alumni status and support of his alma mater all of his life. Bob was proud to be a veteran; he served in the United States Navy from 1972 -1978.  He worked for Shell Oil for 10 years in Bakersfield, CA, where he met Sarah. They married in 1985, and in 1989 they moved to Turlock, CA.   Bob became Chief Financial Officer of Monte Vista Farming Company where he was a well liked and valued coworker and friend for 22 years.
Bob was loved like a father by his wife’s two daughters. His greatest delight in life was spending time with his grandchildren and family.  He enjoyed taking his grandchildren on annual trips to Disneyland and the whole family on cruises. His greatest pride in life was that his grandson was named after him. Bob was an avid sports fan, a member of the Golfer’s Association, and played baseball and basketball in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife Sarah McClain; daughters Adriane Holguin of Wofford Heights, CA and Holli Walker of Turlock; siblings Judy Hofstetter and Jim McClain both of Washington; numerous nieces and nephews; and Robert and Erin, his two beloved grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his sister Vicki Gifford and his parents.
Memorial contributions can be made in Bob’s memory to his favorite charity, Salvation Army, 893 Lander Ave, Turlock, CA 95380.  A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at Allen Mortuary on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Please share your memories at www.allenmortuary.com.
