As we consider the record of those who have served on the Turlock City Council, I think it is fair to ask: What has Cassandra Abram actually accomplished for Turlock?
After nearly four years in office, what measurable results can we point to? Her record on homelessness deserves particular attention. Abram voted to keep Turlock’s We Care Center open when the council considered closing it in 2024. The council ultimately voted 3–2 to close the center, with Abram and Kevin Bixel voting to keep it open.
Abram also supported a proposal involving a $1 contribution and letter of support for We Care to pursue approximately $267,000 in state funding. Those are documented votes. But what have these policies accomplished?
Have they reduced homelessness? Have they improved conditions downtown? Have they produced measurable results for residents, businesses, or those experiencing homelessness?
These questions are not abstract for families who come into Turlock. My family and I come to Turlock for church on Sundays and often go to local parks afterward for lunch. Instead of simply letting our children play and enjoy the afternoon, we find ourselves checking the sanitary conditions and worrying about whether the parks are safe enough for them. Parents should not have to weigh needles, waste, and disorder against a family outing. That is a basic quality-of-life failure, and it is one residents can see for themselves.
Beyond homelessness, what major accomplishments can Abram point to from her time on the council? What specific policies has she championed that have made Turlock safer, better maintained, or more financially responsible? These are reasonable questions for any elected official.
After nearly four years representing District 3, Turlock residents deserve to know what tangible results have come from Cassandra Abram’s time on the City Council.
