The Turlock Bulldog’s varsity girls’ tennis team captured a straight sets home victory over the Buhach Colony Thunder on Tuesday afternoon that ended 9-0.

“The season is off to a strong start. Our team is playing with purpose,” said Turlock head coach Linda Bejaran. “Even when down players they have been able to re-set and pull off a win. This is a fighting team; they don’t take losing as an option.”

All six of the Bulldogs singles players captured wins that included Maya Young, Izzy Romeo, Sophie Winfree, Mehr Sahota, Megan VanHoogmoed and Taylor Eldridge.

On the doubles side, Kelly Ziya and Makenna Boutelle won their match as the No. 1 team in straight sets.

No. 2 Claudia Chan and Megan Labao took their match in straight sets, as did No. 3 Calista McShane and Jennifer Greene.

“They push themselves to do better than their last match played. So proud of how they work together, encourage and support each other,” said Bejaran.

Turlock is off to a 5-0 start in the Central California Conference.
