Cal State Stanislaus' Karenee Demery was named the 2013-14 California Collegiate Athletic Association Female Athlete of the Year.
The award is voted on by the 12-member institutions' Sports Information Directors in conjunction with their annual spring meeting.
Demery wraps up her senior year as one of the most decorated athletes in her program and was recognized for her outstanding performances at the institutional, conference, regional, and national level.

The National Soccer Collegiate Coaches Association and Dakronics, Inc. each named Demery as their National Player of the Year after leading all of Division II with 52 points, including an NCAA second-best 21 goals and 10 assists.

Demery is the first women's soccer player to be named athlete of the year since the 2000-01. She's also the first Cal State Stanislaus athlete to be named the CCAA Athlete of the Year.

The Merced native began her season of numerous accolades in early November, when she was named the CCAA's Most Valuable Offensive Player for the third time in her collegiate career. Demery led the Conference in points, goals, assists, shots (107), and game-winning goals (6), while also breaking and tying CCAA career records with 2.25 points per game and 0.94 goals per game.

Demery was also tabbed the NSCAA and Dakronics, Inc. West Region Player of the Year and was named to the respective All-America teams. The Warrior forward also led her team academically, earning Capital-One All-District and Capital-One All-America en route to being named the Capital-One Academic All-America Player of the Year.

A NCAA Woman of the Year and Honda Athlete of the Year Candidate, Demery is the recipient of the Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship. Nationally, in all divisions of the NCAA, only one male and one female student-athlete is awarded this scholarship, worth $24,000 to pursue a graduate degree.
