Cal State Stanislaus' Brandon Taylor has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of March 8-15.
Taylor, a sophomore from Denver, Colo., claimed individual medalist honors at the Pioneer Shootout held earlier this week at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo. Taylor opened the 54-hole event a pair of 1-under par 71s on Monday before carding a 3-over 75 on Tuesday to finish at 1-over par 217.
Taylor posted a five-shot victory over Cal State Monterey Bay's Oskar Nystrom and Garrett Baxley of Cal State East Bay, who tied for second with scores 6-over par 222. Cal State Stanislaus placed second, eight shots behind tournament-winner Cal State Monterey Bay.
The Warriors will take a long break before returning to action, as their next match will be the Notre Dame de Namur Invitational at Poppy Ridge Golf Club in Livermoore on March 22-23. After that, it will be the Grand Canyon Invitational in Arizona before hosting the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Country Club on April 12-13.

UCSD trips Warriors softball twice
The Cal State Stanislaus softball team's bats were quiet on Friday as the Warriors’ offense were limited by the UC San Diego pitching staff.
The Warriors mustered a total of five hits in the California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader to lose 2-0 and 5-3.
With the pair of setbacks, the Warriors fall to 3-16-1 overall and 1-13 in conference play while the Tritons improved to 15-9 and 11-7 in the CCAA.
